St. Patrick's Day 2021: My Irish Ancestry

As St. Patrick's Day 2021 is upon us, here is a look at my various Irish ancestral lines, through both my paternal and maternal lines.

Edward and Catherine were married on February 20, 1849 in Upper Creggan, County Armagh, Ireland now part of Northern Ireland). Daughter Bridget Theresa was baptized in the same place on January 11, 1853.

William Curran was born on March 27, 1827 in Ballyclare, County Antrim (now part of Northern Ireland). William married Sarah on December 17, 1854 in Belfast, County Antrim (now part of Northern Ireland).

Any information about David O'Killea's Irish origins is unknown. He eventually settled on Cape Cod and married Jane Powell (who was of Welsh descent). Prior to their marriage, David and Jane were brought up in Plymouth Colony court on charges of fornication on October 4th, 1655. 

“And att this Court, Jane Powell, servant to William Swift, of Sandwidge, appeered, haveing been psented for fornication, whoe, being examined, saith that it was committed with one David Ogillior, an Irish man, servant to Edward Sturgis; shee saith shee was alured therunto by him goeing for water one evening, hoping to have married him, beeing shee was in a sadd and miserable condition by hard service, wanting clothes and living discontentedly; and expressing great sorrow for her evell, shee was cleared for the psent, and ordered to goe home againe.”

Any information about Patrick and Mary's Irish origins are unknown. The pair married on January 24, 1847 in Providence, Rhode Island. Son James was born in Providence about two years later. 

Fredrick Joseph Sullivan Meagher's father, Michael (also called Frederick), was also supposedly born in Ireland, according to Fredrick's birth record. However, further research is needed.
